Legislation Day 2014 Ends with Governor Signing

WCTSMA State Officers and BOD advisers converged on Olympia February 5, 2014 to push for continued support of our CTE programs throughout the state. A legislative educational session started off the day at North Thurston High School then proceeded to the Legislation Building for meetings and CTSO promotion proceedings. All eight CTSO's participated in the legislative process. State Officers and advisers met with their State Representatives and Senators throughout the day telling them why they need to support CTE programs in our state. President Matteo Molieri, Vice President Cody Burk, and State Officer Director Chris Hiatt returned to Olympia February 12, 2014 for a meeting with Governor Inslee to sign the CTE Declaration. Our Twitter feed has a photograph of President Molieri with Goveror Inslee. Check it out!

WCTSMA Partners With Medco To Create New Undergraduate Scholarship

WCTSMA'S Board of Directors is proud to announce our new partnership with Medco Sports Medicine in the form of a $1500 undergraduate scholarship. Eligible candidates must have actively participated in a WCTSMA member school program during high school. They must also be enrolled in a CAATE accredited undergraduate program that concludes with a baccalaureate degree. The link will soon be available on-line with the application form and complete eligibility form. Please note the deadline for this process completion is March 1, 2014.

This will launch our WCTSMA Alumni Association formed to help support previous members with funds while keeping them updated and involved with the programs and association that helped form their career path. It will also serve to collect data to track program and career pathway success. This data will benefit with continued OSPI support along with WSATA, NWATA, and NATA awareness of this successful career preparation program.

Winter Leadership draws record numbers

Over 300 WCTSMA members participated in the Winter Conferences held in Wenatchee and Everett. Erin Jones was our Keynote Speaker for both presentations. WCTSMA members were captivated by her message. Of course, Leadership is not complete without our spectacular Student Board of Directors leading the show at both conferences. State logo design was also up for voting by members at each conference. Look for results to be posted soon on that and other State Competition information.

Washington CTSO State Officers Shine At WAVA Conference

13 State Officers from 7 of 8 CTSO's in Washington State sat for the WAVA Fall Conference student panel presentation October 9, 2013 in Wenatchee, WA. Each participant told their CTE experience to the Washington State Vocational Administrators. The presentation was before the entire group of administrators and was well received. Questions were directed for the students to supply critical information to CTE administrators to help improve programs throughout the state. State Officers were treated to lunch following the presentation. These CTSO group gatherings continue to be an important part of each CTSO as each group strengthens the other by working together as a group and socializing together as a group. What a fabulous day!
